It’s fair to say the German Arms Hotel is one of South Australia’s most iconic watering holes. We’ve certainly won plenty of plaudits and our fair share of followers over the years.
But while our rustic character and age-old charm haven’t changed, today, we’re recognised as one of the finest contemporary pubs in the state.
We’re proud to offer a selection of award-winning local and German beers, an exceptional wine list and one of the most mouth-watering menus that the beautiful and bountiful Adelaide Hills has to offer. And we warmly welcome locals and tourists alike, with open German Arms.

Along with signature German dishes, we offer a wide selection of contemporary Australian pub-style classics and daily specials. All our meals are prepared fresh and, wherever possible, made with locally sourced seasonal produce.

Fancy a beer? Well, you’re spoilt for choice. We’re renowned for our range of Bavarian brews. To bring you the best, we went to helles and bock – along with a few pilsners and wheat beers.
Of course, our drinks menu couldn’t be complete without a few locals. We’re pleased to support our regional producers, who operate some of the best boutique breweries, cideries (yes, it is a word) and distilleries in the country.
As for our wine list? We’re in the Adelaide Hills – enough said.

What Chris doesn’t know about running a bar or restaurant isn’t worth knowing. Totally hands-on, Chris can be tapping a keg one minute, then mixing a cocktail the next. In his spare time, you’ll find Chris…still working at the German Arms!
She’s the queen of hospitality and the star of Chevi’s Bevvies. Like Chris, there’s not much she doesn’t know about running a pub. One thing we do know is she’s always there to please the patrons, and she goes above and beyond to do that.
If there is someone who runs to the beat of her own drum, it’s Tash! With her experience in theatre and music (as well as extensive hospitality experience) she is certainly not one to let your time at the German Arms be anything but entertaining!
